Review - First Temptation

Counterterrorist agent Taft Walker knows the Mexican cartel smuggling game. But posing as part owner of an adult store to ferret out the newest tunnel into the US is a first. So is Zoe Brooks, his partner, new to undercover and a sex-toy virgin. Taft’s up for the sexy challenge. At least until he sees the real Zoe beneath her tough façade and realizes, for the first time in his life, he’ll have to risk his heart to win.

After the death of a teammate, Border Patrol Agent Zoe Brooks is ready to get off the front lines. She’s willing to tolerate a swaggering partner like Taft for a chance to work investigations with ICE. But she’s not prepared for the way he understands her deepest, sexiest desires. Or the fact that she’ll have to break her own rules to grab hold of the passion she’s always wanted.

Note: Also appears in the anthology Wicked Firsts

My review:

This was a quick captivating suspense story that I am glad I decided to read.  From the first scene you are thrust into the story when you meet Zoe during a chase as she is working Border Patrol.  You get to see she is a strong,  Next we follow her to a meeting with Taft to hopefully get her chance at leaving Border Patrol and becoming in ICE agent.  While they have some initial objections to each other there is also instant chemistry.  Zoe is willing to put up with Taft and his attitude to get off the Border and into undercover work.  Taft doesn't believe she can handle it, but is sure he can work around her and get the job done.  Little do they know their undercover assignment will be as a couple running an adult store.

What a great story and thrilling ride all the way to the conclusion.  You have complex interesting characters - a strong alpha male and self reliant heroine.  Both with their own views and opinions and not afraid to speak their minds.  At the same time they have an undeniable chemistry and watching them come to accept and realize what it is makes a great story in and of itself.  If you love romantic suspense this is one not to be missed.
