Vampires,
Shifters, Zombies, Angels - who wins the final ultimate battle?
I am all about the power
of love and nobility and sacrifice for the greater good. So, I would suggest
that in this ultimate battle the Angels (with the power if heaven behind them)
would team up with whichever group is not seeking power for power’s sake, is
into it to protect the little guy, and who has a love interest—because romance
always ups the ante.
What
books are currently on your nightstand?
Once I started hearing
about so many good books being published, and I knew I just couldn’t afford to
buy them all, I decided to use my Goodreads account to keep track of them. At
the time of this writing, I have 294 books on it. My goal is to live long
enough to read them all.
As for the books I’m
actually reading at the moment, I usually have 2-3 going at a time. One is
always an audiobook. Right now that is Brandon Sanderson’s The Rithmatist. The other book is Insight by James Terron. Both happen to be
fantasies, but I just finished a regency romance. I read many genres.
What
is the best thing you have done in the name of research?
Three things actually.
Two were for A Change of Plans: going on a
catamaran snorkeling excursion along the NaPali Coast on Kauai and visiting the
real Lewistown, Montana. The third was a trip to Ireland for a future A
Change of Plans companion novel.
When
writing what is your favorite part of the story?
For so many years, I kept
my little stories in my head, never sharing them with anyone. I’m a bit of a
pantster, but I’ve recently realized that my first, rough draft is really just
a very long outline. That first draft that takes me from beginning to end is so
much fun because instead of bits and pieces floating in my mind that are really
nothing more than vignettes, suddenly I’ve got a complete story. One that I can
now edit and make all pretty.
A Change of Plans Book Information:
When
twenty-five-year-old Lyn sets off on her cruise vacation, all she wants is to
forget that her dead fiancé was a cheating scumbag. What she plans is a
diversion uncomplicated by romance. What she gets is Braedon, an intriguing
young surgeon. He's everything her fiancé wasn't, and against the backdrop of
the ship's make-believe world, her emotions come alive.
Unaware
of the sensitive waters he navigates, Braedon moves to take their relationship
beyond friendship—on the very anniversary Lyn came on the cruise to forget.
Lyn's painful memories are too powerful, and she runs off in a panic.
But
it's hard to get away from someone when you're stuck on the same ship. Things
are bad enough when the pair finds themselves on one of the cruise's snorkeling
excursions. Then paradise turns to piracy when their party is kidnapped, and
Lyn's fear of a fairy tale turns grim.

ReplyDeleteFor me, the first draft is the worst. I imagine you don't like the revision stage much then.
